Fashion Week - Glove style in '83 Fleer

And here I am, back to an other fashion day.

Today is gloves time to hit the runway!

Ed Romero uses a glove under the glove.

Stoddard shows the glove and also a towel.

All sweat my friends.

Virgil dressed his best catcher uniform to show his catcher glove.

Jerry Reuss shows how a pitcher wears his glove.

LaPoint follows behind.

And Fowlkes doesn't want to be the last.

Laskey thank god doesn't wear a glove with the same colour as the shirt.

Morris is waiting for his turn but already with his glove.

Parrish I don't know if he's already living and packed his glove.

And who's the one trying to enter the runway!?

Rucker is one more to left the index finger out of the glove.

Jerry Ujdur has a glove more like a catcher than like a pitcher.

I didn't know that the Padres used to have a uniform with German flag on the sleeves.

Ahhh but yes! There is the glove!

Erickson is ready to get a start role.

But that glove looks more like a IF glove than a pitcher.

Rawley has one of those gloves too.

I think I need to update my view over the kinds of gloves the players use by their position on the field.

Glad I put a lot of fences around the runway or where would they lean over?

Ashby shows a catcher stand without the protections.

Pujols we know catchers have a bigger glove but that should not be allowed.

Bird and his black glove.

Followed by Ripley.

Dent is a fans favourite and is already signing autographs to people on the stands.

And never leaving his glove behind.

Berenyi didn't like Dent's style so he's throwing the ball to his head.

Hume is again in this runway.

His glove seems like those we use for winter with a string to use around our wrist to never loose them.

Mirabella is not a man of these fashion things that's why that face.

Davis is a comebacker too and he's enjoying the runway like the other day.

Felton wears his glove with pride.

Laudner being a true catcher insisted that he would only hit the runway if we make it look like a game.

And Viola cried he wanted to come too but I had to ask his parents.

He's still changing his teeth you know.

But he really wanted to show his glove.

Fashion Week - Bat style in '83 Fleer (missing beauty)

My previous post of fashion week had some problems and one of those were forgetting to re-add mister Dale Berra.

And just to catch up with my mistake I dedicate this one and only post to him.

Berra! You can hit the runway!

Dale Berra had learned from what the others did in the last fashion day and decided to present himself with his bat in a quite unique way.

Instead of making the well known pose of putting an arm under or both hands intertwined his chin he decided to that with the bat.

A casual look halfway to the back and the great look is complete.

Just be careful not to get a  stiff neck.

Fashion Week - Bat style in '83 Fleer

I had this post already written and somehow I did a wonderful key combo and completely lost it.

And not even the even more wonderful ctrl+z combo would work.

So I had splendid things written for the second day in the fashion week and lost it with the key, not with the wind.

So like the song, 'lets try again'.

Joe Rudi displays a normal, calm and confident look with his bat over the shoulder.

Next is Charlie Moore with a casual look making a pause in the batting practice to go and talk with someone in the stands.

Notice the way he supports the bat over the shoulder and puts the arm on the fence.

Rich Dauer looks confident too like Rudi. Those empty seats do not make him tremble a bit.

Ferguson seems like just had lunch but is ready to go down the runway.

Pryor! The bat! Is falling down your shoulder!

Pocoroba (funny name!) can strike the photo pose.

I don't know why but I always imagine that the catchers do not use gloves to bat. I've watched too many tmes Posada batting (and also Cervelli).

Look who's here in the runway again!

Bob Watson is one of a kind!

He not only manage to wear the glasses with style bust also bend in one knew and 'hugs' the bat with his arms crossed.

That is a superstar look!

Von Hayes shows a bat with tatoos. Well it would be great is they allowed that outside the runway.

Petry is a pitcher but he's accompanied with a bat.

He's doing the shy style.

Youngblood is young and is ready to swing the bat.

Ahhhh young blood is just like that...

The Ripper throws style at everyone.

Even with the bat over the shulder he has the .300 batting average look. He's ready to bat home runs just with his eyes and killer look.

Jim Rice with his humble look seems like is on the deck ready to hit an other home run without much noise.

DeJesus is on my top 3.

The wtf! look is priceless!

OMG! Who put this bat on my hands!?

OMG!

Why am I wearing a Phillies Uniform!?

OMG!

And this bat again!? Take it away!

OMG!

Al Cowens is a comebacker too and found his way for a second day in the fashion week.

He has a killer look, like those know-it-alls that are hidding something...

He poses with his bat like a sword, like a lightsaber...A Jedi! What ya know!

Julio Cruz is the highlight in this fashion day.

He cannot use glasses because those eyebrows would make that impossible.

If you are asking, no, I didn't paint anything on the card. It's the real thing.

And if it wasn't enough he also goes down in one knee and supports himself in the bat in a unique way.

He's the winner.

Fantasy - To bench or not to bench

I Benched Teixeira because I didn't believe that right after coming out of the DL since the start of the season he would be Teixeira.

I was wrong!

Well, at least for Monday.

I might have lost these 10 points but he might not  make that much for the rest of the week.

But I truly hope that he keeps that way!

Even if I benched him for next week he might get promoted to the lineup.

2009 Upper Deck Ballpark Collection #56

I only knew about Teixeira right in his first year as a Yankee.

(I knew most of the players that year...)

And it was a charm!

And no matter what happens, if it is the DL or even moving out of the Yankees I'll always like Teixeira.

So here's one of the numbered cards I have. The only one featuring Teixeira.

Fashion Week - Glasses in '83 Fleer

I got two '83 Fleer rack packs with 3 packs each.

I got sooooooooooooooooo in love with this set!

Why?

Because the '80s were the thing!

The design is simple and without a exquisite colour border but it does the thing.

And there are two photos in the card! I'll show that in a future post.

But the front photo is what matters. Specialy if you have the '80s style all over it!

So lets start with a fashion week, sort of, for the cards I got.

And first of all I have to show the glasses-men!

Mister Porter is the first card and probably the best glasses!

They almost make impossible to wear the cap!

Bernard uses the glasses quite right but that beard is fighting to have the spotlight!

He will be modeling for the beard show day in this fantastic fashion week too.

Can I call him Yogi Bear?

Dan Ford is balacing the glasses just like the cap.

Those glasses if they were satelites would get more than 100 tv channels!

It's almost like the ears also needed glasses!

Lansford seems sad. But I don't think it's because of the glasses but because of the mustache.

But to throw a ball from 3B to put out someone at 1B across the diamond requires a good 'vision'.

Bob Watson is throwing style all over the place.

Using glasses is not for kids! It's for cool boys playing baseball!

Rudy May is the most happy glasses in the lineup.

McLaughlin even puts the cap higher just to show off the glasses.

A pitcher needs more than glasses to hit the strike zone. Sometimes a telescope would be better. But looking at Joey's model I think it's incorporated.

Cowens has the most 'undercover' glasses. So I'll call him the Glasses Bond of the lineup.

Tom Hume looks just like the nerd in all of the cards I got.

He's the only one with dark glasses. It makes him look like a little mouse.

But he's my favourite just because of all that.

Ron Davis looks like the surf-glasses-boy in the lineup.

He's the one looking ready to give autographs and posing with female fans for photos showing like crazy those huge glasses.

But all with grand style.

So the first day in the '83 Fleer fashion week is over.

(It's fun that all cards I posted are of players from different teams.)
