Underground pitch

There are the submarine pitchers and then are the 'underground-pitchers'.

Hide and Seek

Gene Nelson is one of those pitchers that hide the ball before throwing it.

The nowadays pitcher I see doing something like this is Johnny Cueto.

I cannot think of a good title...

...because the Angels logo in this card is placed in a way that seems Bobby Grinch had some...air going on.

Merry Christmas - Am I still on time?

It's always time to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year.

Ohh wait...

All the best my friends ;-)

A bunt is always a bunt - Chone Figgins

Wow...specially when you get a horizontal bunt card with the frame right after the ball connected with the bat.

A bunt is always a bunt - Doug Devore

Oh my...even if you are a rookie that only played 50 games in the MLB...and get a card in the MVP set...

A bunt is always a bunt - Tony Gwynn

Even for players that you think would never bunt when they can swing and hit like a bloody king.

So this is quite the card of Tony Gwynn.

A bunt is always a bunt - Alexi Casilla

Well...even if it's almost an 'underground-bunt'.

(this is one of my favourite bunt cards, by the way)

Flying like a bird - Lastings Milledge

*Starts circus music*

'And now! In this year Christmas Circus we have the one and only Lastings Milledge!'

*Sound of claps*

'Our little Milledge can balance in the tip of his foot and catch baseballs that look more like eggs!'

*Sound of claps again*

'And it gets even better! He can do it on top of a line!'

*Sound of more claps*

'Here goes nothing! Catch Lastings! Catch!'

*Ends circus music*

(This post should have been aired yesterday but the blogger went nuts...)

Flying like a bird - David DeJesus

I was too lazy to take the cards out of the binders.

And thanks to the 'Lights Sound' the card looks weird.

That and David looks like tripping and because of that he might catch that ball.

Flying like a bird - Brett Gardner

Second Ruca...errrrrrr...Brett Gardner card in the series.

I warned you that outfielders usually have a field day in what flying and diving catches matters.

I just cannot help but think this card has some photoshop on it.

Even if it was just to put some Sfumato technique on the card.

Flying like a bird - Ben Zobrist

Today I'm seeing double.

Ben Zobrist can mimic himself ground flying (just made that up right on the fly!) to catch the ball.

Still I think is better not to work the rest of the day. It must not be normal seeing double...

Flying like a bird - Brett Gardner

I've always loved mister Gardner.

Even if he reminds of Ruca...

Why?

Because he looks one thing with cap/helmet on but when he takes them off...

But none the less, Brett Gardner has great flying cards.

Flying like a bird - Jose Bautista

Bautista here is an other side of the Flying Like a Bird collection.

You don't have to always fly to catch a flying ball.

Sometimes you have to fly for a nearly ground ball.

And in these cases, sometimes, you get to see them sliding on the ground and get all that dirt on the uniform.

(I kept trying to avoid writing 'dirty uniforms'...oh wait!)

Flying like a bird - Ozzie Smith

I've already talked about that besides collecting dusty and front row cards I also collect Flying Birds.

I have yet to add the tab on the top of the blog menu bar but for now let me show you some of the cards I have.

This Ozzie Smith card was the true trigger to make me gather the cards and put them into binders.

Usually this type of flying cards are brought to us by the flying men playing outfield.

Our Ozzie is exception to the rule.

Let him fly!

It's a matter of language

Here mister Joe Vitiello last name is quite similar to one portuguese word: 'vitelo'.

And what does it mean?

Calf.

So here our friend Joe is always mister Calf for me.

The pee bating style

I know there is the kicking technique.

But I always think they are anxious to run to the WC.
