The Hunter takes it all

It seems the Game #7 did it for Royals but not in the way they were expecting.

The Giants did it again and it seems they truly have a thing going on with the even years (2010, 2012 and now 2014).

I know I bet Royals would do it even if my feeling was that SF would get the title. I think it was the wish of seeing Kansas City making it to the playoffs and not enough would go for the title.

In the end I'm not that sad because I get to see all that Hunter Pence photos.

And Bumgarner and Cain too.

But mainly my Hunter.

What are they looking at?

Rick Cerone is not liking what he's seeing...

...Lance Johnson is doubting what he's seeing...

...Jeff Wetherby is not that excited of what he's seeing.

So what it is they are seeing!?

It's the Chicken Dance!

Hunter Pence hits big WorldSeries homers

Post by MLB.

I just let it pass because it is 'my' Hunter Pence.

Simply because they look good - woman perspective wanna be

I'm just posting this Musselman card because he looks good.

Sometimes I simply like to play gily girl and look at my cards from a narrow woman perspective and imagine if I were a teen (just for the sake of my adulthood) which players would make me go yaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!

I think Musselman would make me look a lot to his card and his games...

But yet he's not quite there to fully apply to my Woman Perspective category. But almost.

Lets get physical

In the middle of it baseball is a contact game.

At least if you're playing as catcher and you have to defend home plate with your life!

If I were a man I wouldn't be that light face like Bob Geren is with a player coming that way...but it's just me that I'm a woman talking about baseball...

50 Cities of the World #3 Nottingham

Here we are traveling to an other England city.

Nottingham makes me think in a zap of Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham.

But looking at the picture I think of a great market place full of life.

Those houses are like lots of stairs to climb. Those days people were mad! Building in height with awful climbing stairs.

It's a shame that I'm finding that some cards' back are quite difficult to read.

It' seems Nottingham was well known for the castles and great palace like buildings.

Don't know if it is still known also for the market of tobacco but I hope not because it helps kill you faster. We have to take good care of our health people!

That's why it's also a good thing that I can get these cards now without the need to buy the cigarettes.

For more information here's the wiki page.

Prize!? What Prize!?

It seems I have to live in US, Canada or other Commonwealth countries in order to get any prize.

But seriously!?

I don't need money prizes!

I just be happy getting it right and get an e-mail congratulating me for the feat!

When the stands stand out

I like cards where you can see the stadium and specially the stands.

It gives you an idea of being surrounded by the life you get in a ball game.

It gives you more the feeling of being in the game.

(There are those times when the stands are empty but you can always picture them full of people.)

Go go Royals!

What a postseason!

(I don't know what the prize is but I'll be happy just to get it right for the fun!)

There are some cards you don't expect to find

I know this is not a first and that it's not that uncommon to see a card with a pitcher batting.

But there are some pitchers I can picture at the plate. The first time I noticed Dan Haren was was not because he was pitching but he was batting. And he was a pretty good pitch batting!

But then there are other pitchers I usually don't picture at the plate.

Fernando Valenzuela is one of them. So it's quite nice to have this card of him bunting.

And as for what I've read in the net he actually had a season with batting average over .300!

Joe Niekro - 1988 Donruss

In a past post I showed a terrific card of Phil and Joe Niekro.

This time is just Joe alone by himself.

I still have to find a Phil Niekro '88 Donruss card. Must add it to my want list (eventually).

Here little brother Joe is stated in his wiki page as "one of the most successful knuckleball pitchers of all time".

For me pitching a fastball in a straight direction is tough enough trying for a  knuckleball is like a 'kind of magic'.

Bracket Challenge

This is all I have to say.

(PS: I probably got the WS winner wrong but I couldn't help myself and...believe.)

50 Cities of the World #2 Liverpool

This is a true English set. So we can count with more than one English city and even some Commonwealth cities too.

Here ate #2 we have Liverpool.

And if we 'dissect' its name we get 'liver' and 'pool'.

Pool I understand being Liverpool a city turned to the river living from the  nautical commerce.

And 'liver'...my first idea was the organ but no. I've just expanded my English vocabulary and learned that liver also means "a person who lives in a specified way (inhabitant)".

So they true live by the river and all jobs are related to 'water'.

The card back talks precisely about the fact.

Liverpool was (and still might be - sorry I don't know that much about UK economics) the most important harbor city in England...but still the one thing it's know well known for is the one and only greatest boy band ever (and rock & roll and other types of music):

The Beatles.

I can imagine in a future, a re-make of this set and the Liverpool card has to have the ships, boats and stuff but it also has to have The Beatles playing in the harbor.

Ohhh well You also have Anfield Road home of FC Liverpool.

You can check Liverpool's info in its wiki page.

Postseason 2014 bets

After winning my division on this year fantasy league it seems there is no playoff games. I can't understand those rules that much...

But! There are other games we still can play at mlb.com

I've tried a couple of them but it seems the one I've been doing better is the Bracket Challenge.

Got 3 rights so far. Lets see what might come next.

An other 'great' Topps offers

Topps must not know what else to do with remaining cards.

At least that's what it seems.

Putting a bunch of cards into a framework!?

Seriously!?

That's what fans have been doing for a long time Topps. And their work worths more than your limited # serious.

Why?

Because fans do it because they love the game and the hobby.

You do to simple get a bit more out of our pocket with no reason.

Look a like - Buhner and Mantle

I don't know why but sometimes I think I have a players card but it's not that player.

I know that in 1988 Mantle wouldn't be playing but when I first looked at Jay Buhner Donruss card I thought I was seeing things and it was in fact a Mantle SP way before the mad Topps SP fashion.

I think it might be the pose, the way he's standing and preparing the swing but is also something in the face that immediately makes me think Buhner and Mantle just simple look-a-like.

Oil Can

I have read many talk about the 'Oil Can' in the blogoshpere and saw some cards of him.

I've read a bit of articles about his sports life and difficulties to keep it up.

Still it seems there are some 'off' players that no matter what they do they are somehow a legend in the game.

It seems Boyd is one of them.

So now I'm a proud owner of a 'Oil Can' Boyd card.

It came in one of those Donruss rack packs I got and that had some tags with some players names. Boyd's name was not on the tags so it was an incredible surprise when I got his card.
