I'm heartbroken - Extra inning

I've just read some dreadful news on the web.

It seems the ESPN is shutting down the ESPN America and ESPN Classic in Europe.

That is the worst news I could have...

I have the ESPN America and Classic since 2009 and my life simple changed from then.

I cannot see my days without Baseball games.

Nor without American Football and Ice Hockey.

I'm heartbroken.

2008 Upper Deck Artifacts - A Piece of History (they say...) III

And to end the Artifacts box I'm showing today the insert set and some extras.

Since it was '08 every Upper Deck set had some Yankees Legacy cards. The Artifacts set was no different.

So I got the skipper Joe McCarthy. And at least I get a game info where the Yankees smashed ST Louis which is always nice.

In '32  the team finished with a record of 107-47, winning their seventh pennant. Those numbers were only possible back then...

And for the same year I got also Babe Ruth! Nice match up.

And now what I really liked: Historical Moments!

I'm that geek for history.

Geneva Summit - Ahhhh the one and only Cold War. It seems it never ended, just shifted a bit...

Personal Computer - This has to be my favourite since I'm an IT Engineer. I'm not old enough to have use one of this but I sure remember the 386 and MS-DOS

NATO Created - I've always imagined NATO as the planetary army.

Hubble Telescope - The HST had some 'eyes' problem but after the 'glasses' it paid off. It's reaching the end of his work and will be replaced by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) probably around 2018.

Panama Canal - Maneuver a big ship through the Panama Canal is only for Great Sailors.

Paul Revere - This is an American piece of history so I'm not that into it. But it seems the messenger this time wasn't to blame.

Sputnik Launched - The very first man-made object to reach Earth orbit was from URSS. How could USA let it happen?

Transcontinental Railroad - Trains have that adventure spirit surrounding. From those days when the first railroads were build to nowadays where the trains travels like bullets!

I love sports cards but this historical cards are so good I'd love to have a complete set of it. So I think I might invest and get the rest of the set from the comc.com site.

First package ever sent

All packed and ready to send.

This is my very first try at sending some fellow blogger a couple of cards.

And right to the other side of the ocean.

Hope it will arrive soon and in one piece.

Dragon Ball Trading Cards Game - Extra Inning

I finally put on binders my Dragon Ball trading cards.

They are the front binders of my new baseball binders dossier.

Yep, I like to make people think I'm that weird.

So the picture at top is the card back for the cards. That's all these cards have to offer on the back. So that's why there are sleeves with one side opaque. For cards that we don't need to see the back. But they look nice!

Here's an example of a special card. You cannot see because I took awful photos, but the card shines.

But some cards have more things shinning that others.

The above Dragon card is all shinning, and by that I mean all letters, not the picture (sadly!).

But in this Goten special card only the name letter are shinning.

And I think you can see better in this photo...

Like all trading cards' games there are cards for spells, enchantments, creatures, heroes, magic, places, powers...

What I like is that we get moments for Dragon Ball and for Dragon Ball Z.

Dragon Ball probably was the one and only true Japanese hit in Portugal.

When the Dragon Ball aired it was more kids and youth that watched it. But then came Dragon Ball Z and Universities stopped, Companies stopped.

Every single soul stopped to watch it on TV.

Even the kids nowadays know about Dragon Ball. Even if they prefer Gormitis and stuff like that.

Here is one of my favourite cards. Simply because I like Gohan.

At first I was quite the opposite about him but then I understood him.

I was a bit sad that he no longer transform in Super Sayan and change the visual.

But he is the most powerful of the Z gang!

Here we one binder page being the bottom line of cards the shinning ones. And also the two on the top left.

For the last binder page I saved the bad guys and the gods.

Vegeta not here because he's a bad boy but not a bad guy ^_-

And to end the post a filler card. Just because it's a filler moment in the anime it does not mean it is a bad thing.

I loved the filler where Goku and Picollo (try to!) take driving lessons.

And the Sayaman is cool too. Specially if you are interested in fanfics...

Miguel Cabrera is an A+

I checked my fantasy results for yesterday and I went...

AHHHHHHHHHHH

I think I had for the first time a player that gave me more points that anyone else.

Miguel Cabrera had a wonderful game and thanks to that he gave me 20 points.

Great!

He made for Pedroia, Carpenter and Young 0 points each.

Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day in Portugal.

So here's my humble homage to all Mothers but specially to my Mum.

Houston we have...a victory!

Really that two nights ago the Astros won 9 to 1 to my Yankees!?

This year Astros are a case study.

They change uniform.

They lose almost all players.

They change form NL to AL.

Can anyone understand Astros?

This time around the catcher Carlos Corporan did the job.

I like it when the catchers show they are more than the man behind the plate.
