1998 Collector's Choice - That lunch box! (pack 12)
Today I start this post with a Cover Glory.
Ryne Sandberg is probably *the* Cubs player that always come to my mind.
I don't know if this set intention was to, somehow, recreate a magazine cover or simply stating that the players deserve to feature in magazine covers.
I simply like the effect they do with the red filter in the back.
In '96 CC set one of the checklist sets had the same kind of background effect, using a colour filter.
Besides that...I love the blue snickers Sandberg is using.
Jeff d'Amico at least has a funny name.
I can say that this is a Cubs pack.
The detail that Drie is giving the autograph inside the cap. It's for the person to never show it to anyone!?
Hidalgo...was not a bad film.
I like second year cards because the previous years states are the same as the totals.
Silver hit!
And I know this type of actions are made for the photo. Most OF don't needed it because they do it a lot during games.
But I like it none the same.
And besides that it's a CC All-Star.
A couple of good cards but not a big pack.

I like that Gonzalez card. Some people might not enjoy staged photos, but I'm okay with them. The Sandberg is cool too and although he should be the first Cub that comes to mind since I grew up watching him... I'll always associate the Cubs with Ernie.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple more from other UD sets and I never dislike them I do like them. If the player is even wearing the team uniform you can easily forget it was staged ;)
ReplyDeleteI give you the credit for Ernie. It's simple that I kind of know him less..Even if I don't know Ryne that well, but a little bir better none the same.
It's a shame the Ernie was before my time. I wish I had been able to see him play in person.
